The library will seek to provide you with materials in almost any language.
Please note that the amount of material in many languages are limited and that you may sometimes have to wait for a considerable period of time. (Ask the librarian).
The library holds library-use courses for adults and various school-classes, but you may ask for a brief introduction at any time. (Ask the staff).
All use of the library is free of charge. However, if you wish to borrow any of our materials, you must first obtain a library card. Your library card can be used at The Ledøje-Smørum, Ganløse, Stenløse and Ølstykke Libraries.
You must present us with your Danish social security card (Sygesikringsbevis) or your passport. Your social security card may be used as your library card.
A children's card is issued to the parent or legal guardian of the child who will use that card. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for all materials borrowed and for any fines or fees owed on cards of children up to the age of 18. The child or youth must provide the same identification required for an adult card. All library cardholders may borrow any circulating material from any part of the library (except rated films), and all library cardholders may use the Internet here. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to regulate the materials his or her child checks out or views online.
Library cards are not transferable. Please do not lend your library card to anyone else. You are responsible for all materials borrowed with your library card, used with or without your permission.
Remember, YOUR LIBRARY CARD IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!
To protect your library account from unauthorized use, please notify the library immediately if your library card is lost or stolen.
Also, please notify the library if you change your address or phone number.
Your personal information along with your loans is recorded in our computer system.
Only the staff has access to the system and no information is shared with other parties.
All information is confidential.
All records of a loan are deleted when you return the loaned material to the library.
Most materials have a loan period of 31 days. Some materials are marked for 7 or 14 days loan.
All loans are recorded in our computer system. You will get a receipt when borrowing and returning materials. The loan period is clearly noted for each item. Please check your receipt before leaving the library.
You have an obligation to return the borrowed materials to the library on time or you will have to pay a fine. The fines are set by the Town Council.
Outside opening hours you may return materials through the bookdrop by the front door. Please note : you will be fined for any materials returned after the library closes on the date the materials are due.
If you destroy or misplace our materials you will be held liable for the cost of replacements (please note that some of our materials, e.g. videos, DVDs and CD-ROMs are very expensive).
You may renew by phone, via our website (ask for a pin code), or at the library.
You may renew your loan twice unless it is reserved by someone else.
If the material has been borrowed for you from another library, we have to ask that library for renewal. Normally you do not have to wait for this. You can take the material home on the condition that you return it, if we notify you by mail.
If the item you want, has been borrowed by someone else, we will reserve it for you or you may reserve it yourself from our computers or via the Internet. You will be notified by mail, email or SMS, when it is available.
If the libraries in Ledøje-Smørum, Ganløse, Stenløse or Ølstykke do not own the item, we can often get it for you through inter-library loan. You will be notified by mail, email or SMS when the item is available for you - or if we can not get hold of it.
From the The Library Catalogue you may reserve materials, renew your loans and check the status and return dates of borrowed items. To use this service you need a pin code. (Ask the staff).
